The Manor Road 'Buildings' as the were and are known to many locals were West Ham Council's first attempt at 'high rise' housing. and between 1926 and 1928 blocks of over 400  four-storey, two and three bedroom flat (apartments) were built.  After WWII the block became victim to neglect and gained a bad 'reputation', but were refurbished in the 1990s and are still in full use - and, of course, now are within a few yards of the new West Ham Station.
