A
few 'arty' shots from the Ed's collection To tell the truth I don't remember if
they were just lucky results or whether I actually tried to achieve the effects
that came back from the photo-processors.

The empty 'Royal' dock where my father had worked for much of his life - the Albert Dock in Newham. Taken in the 70's after the 'Royals' had been abandoned as a commercial port and before developers moved in much later. This area has been used as a water-sports training centre and as the venue for power boat racing and now has an airport, a large university, a conference and exhibition centre, hotels plus dockside homes with many more to come.

This is the view I got many misty mornings, while relaxing on the wharf side at the end of my night shifts while working at British Alcan's Silvertown plant in Newham. We watched the Thames Barrier being built over several years, and this was only a part of the action on the river which included craft of all types ranging from pleasure boats to 'tall' ships and even an aircraft carrier..

Another shot from the wharf at British Alcan, this time at night. We spent our breaks during warm weather chatting, dozing off, watching the river life or trying to guess what was going on under those lights on the far side of the river. The Thames is a 'tidal' river and you can see the 'mud' flat that could extend towards the centre of the river for several hundred yards at low tides,
